The Fly At Reading Festival Day 2
Sooo, day two of Reading, decided to take it easy and went to bed around 2ish, leaving a lot of really temptingly fun people behind. I felt like a bit of a party pooper but you should have seen me in the morning, I was fresh faced and totally articulate, even more so than normal as I went to get breakfast and had at least 2 hash browns.
Yesterday’s music was slightly underwhelming what with the headliners being not so ball blasting but today there were some good little nuggets of music to suck on. First on the plate were Mystery Jets who brought in a fantastic crowd and left everyone feeling lovely as usual. Then everyone’s best mate Keith Murray from We Are Scientists came on to perform with the band before their own set at the Main Stage. Next I trotted over to see White Lies who were very good as they have been every time I’ve ever seen them, such a good response and the band seem to be getting a lot more confident and epic every time I see them, they finished their set with ‘Death‘. Managed to grab a bit of Louis XIV before heading over to the main stage, but suddenly became extremely aware of the fact that 40% of people at the festival had painted their faces like The Joker, was there one person painting it or were people just painting it themselves or was it actually really not actually happening? Let me know.
We Are Scientists did an amazing cover of Ace Of Bases’ ‘All That She Wants’, it was really, really quite good, I think everyone there appreciated the cover and it was nice to hear a band do a cover that wasn’t Nirvana this weekend, Dirty Shitty Things did a cover, Feeder did a cover, the Manics done one too. I also saw a guy backstage who was full on dressed like Kurt Cobain stripy jacket and white sunglasses and a miserable smile. The Killers played a typically Killers’y set, with fireworks and that, Brandon’s shaved his moustache off and they finished off the night with the one that goes ‘I‘ve Got Soul But I’m Not A Solider’, then we went back to the guest bit and make a ship out of a human, became good friends with my bag, sat on top of a chair on a table, did an impression of a pterodactyl in front of Howling Bells and then went to bed.
