
Red Stripe Music Award 2010:Brixton
London is set to host a string of shows for 2010’s Red Stripe Music Awards. The capital kicks off it’s leg of the competitions at Brixton’s Windmill on January 22nd. Last year, five bands from London made it onto the shortlist with Brixton blues twosome, Philadelphia Mainline making it to the final held at the HMV Forum in May where Gomez headlined.
Hundreds of bands have entered already for 2010 with the line-up below now finalized for Brixton. Doors will be at 7.00pm and FREE to get in.

The Helmholtz Resonators
The Helmholtz Resonators are 5 musicians who have been playing and writing music together since meeting at university. They studied acoustic science and the work of Hermann Helmholtz, particularly being inspired by the book.
Sherika Sherard
Prepare to be challenged, enlightened and positively moved as you experience the infectious creativity of Sherika Sherard.
Tom Eno
Inspired by classic Jazz masters such as Charlie Broyd and Django Reinhardt, Tom Eno creates his own distinctive Spanish/Jazz guitar blend.
Dolphin Parade
A four-piece rock band from Brighton, big on rock riffs, harmonies and lyrics.
Something Beginning with L
Girl/boy/girl trio from South London and Suffolk. Taking inspiration from 90′s alt-rock era, SbL “create melodies as sweet as any chart buster, but with a desire to make the arrangements twist and turn at tangents to the mainstream.”
Gigs this year will take place around the country from January to April, across 30 of the country’s best live music venues – with even more partners and music industry muscle on board for 2010. Bands and artists are invited to enter details via www.redstripe.netand if selected will play for the chance to win spots at some of the UK’s best loved festivals, including The Great Escape. Fender equipment www.fender.co.uk and Merc www.merc.com clothing will also be up for grabs as well as hours of free consultancy with Arising Artist www.arisingartist.com, a group of music industry professionals who advise on A&R, Promotion, Publicity, Marketing, Management and general business management.
