Red Stripe Music Award 2010: Cornwall

Truro opens its arms to a host hot new talent, set to showcase their material at Bunters on February 11th. Last year, local lad Ben Howard performed and won the final at the HMV Forum in May where Gomez headlined.  He has since played at various festivals and supported acts in USA and around Europe.

Hundreds of bands have entered already for 2010 with the line-up below now finalized. Doors will be at 7pm.

Line-Up:

Marble Fairy

Marble Fairy are a five-piece electro pop group that promise to “tantalise your ears, wear down your dancing shoes and make your heart pound with disco love.”

Sam Naylor

Sam Naylor is a 19-year-old singer/songwriter/acoustic guitarist, born and raised in Cornwall. His style of playing incorporates hitting the body of the guitar to produce percussive beats while slapping bass lines and picking melodies on the strings.

Lioness

A five-piece band based in North Cornwall, Lioness formed in 2007 and although the line-up and direction has changed slightly the band are ready and raring to showcase their new material.

The People’s String Foundation

Widely known as an expressive and bohemian band, The People’s String Foundation generate energy and excitement wherever they perform.  

Patrick James Pearson

Influenced by everything from Iggy Pop, Ivor Cutler and Marnie Stern, this solo artist promises to deliver some inspired sounds.

Gigs this year will take place around the country from January to April, across 30 of the country’s best live music venues – with even more partners and music industry muscle on board for 2010. Bands and artists are invited to enter details via www.redstripe.netand if selected will play for the chance to win spots at some of the UK’s best loved festivals, including The Great Escape.
