
Red Stripe Music Award 2010: Leeds
Leeds has announced its 2010 bill for Red Stripe Music Awards, taking place at the Cockpit on February 17th. Last year, Leeds blues rock band The Lazy Darlings made it onto the shortlist for the final but just missed out on playing at the HMV Forum in London where Gomez headlined in May. Hundreds of bands have entered already for 2010 with the line-up below now finalized. Doors will be at 8pm and tickets will be sold on the door for £4 only.

Merry-Go
Merry-Go are a quartet from Wakefield who formed whilst at school in 2006. Their sound has been compared to Biffy Clyro, U2 and Deacon Blue.
Hail Animator
Hail Animator met whilst studying at Leeds College of Music. They play progressive hook-laden indie.
Silverlode
Silverlode describe themselves as a “four-headed skiffle-prog-pop band from Leeds.”
The Nice Sharp Pencils
The Nice Sharp Pencils are a pop duo from Sowerby Bridge. Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens are amongst their fans.
Gigs this year will take place around the country from January to April, across 30 of the country’s best live music venues – with even more partners and music industry muscle on board for 2010. Bands and artists are invited to enter details via www.redstripe.netand if selected will play for the chance to win spots at some of the UK’s best loved festivals, including The Great Escape.
