Red Stripe Music Award 2010: Hitchin

12 Mar 2010

Hitchin showcases the talents of its area at Remix on March 18th, for the fourth year of Red Stripe Music Award.

Hundreds of bands have entered already for 2010 with the line-up below now finalized. Doors will be at 8pm and only £3 entry.

Line-Up:

Zalinski

Originally formed for a one-off charity concert in London, Zalinski are a hard hitting, groove orientated rock band. Since their conception in the summer of 2007, the band have been gigging constantly, and recording consistently. In the summer of 2009 the band played in the finals of three of the UK’s largest  unsigned competitions, and in October released their first official Ep ‘Actions, Reactions & Misunderstandings’. Zalinski started 2010 supporting Pete Doherty at ‘The Rhythm Factory’ and are due to record their next EP in March.

The Cavaliers

How long has it been since the nation’s grubby capital streets have had a band that called fans to their  side like a group denim-clad Pied Pipers, a pint and a fag in one hand and a guitar in the other?  Has the south gone soft in the face of the constant tide of anthems from gritty Northern towns?  One might think  so but for the emergence of The Cavaliers with their infectious sweep of indie-pop and charm the pants off you mentality.

The Autumnkind

Marc’s melodic heartfelt musings with Caleb’s searing rock guitar create something special. It wasn’t until early 2008 that the two began putting together a catalogue of tunes to throw emphatically into the public domain.

The Nimblewits

The Nimblewits are a three-piece act from Bedfordshire. Lots of boy/girl harmonies plus oodles of energy make for a delightful musical experience and thoughtful but catchy tunes you’re bound to be humming for days.

Gigs this year will take place around the country from January to April, across 30 of the country’s best live music venues – with even more partners and music industry muscle on board for 2010. Bands and artists are invited to enter details via www.redstripe.netand if selected will play for the chance to win spots at some of the UK’s best loved festivals, including The Great Escape.
