Having just toured with Beach House, 26-year-old Georgia native Ernest Greene finds himself ushered into the ‘chillwave’ scene alongside college friend Toro Y Moi. “He is probably a much better producer than me,” he says humbly, “but I can see why people are grouping u together – it’s a similar aesthetic.” Instead, Greene prefers the term ‘dream pop’; “I take all these influences, these little fragments of disparate pieces of music and put them together in my own way.” Drawing from everything from obscure pop (‘Feel It All Around’ samples Gary Low’s Italo-disco classic ‘I Want You’) to 10cc to The Stone Roses, his ‘Life Of Leisure’ EP is six tracks of sleepy euphoria, and a dream well worth revisiting.
