WILD NOTHING
Words: Lisa Wright

“It’s been said that the record is very nostalgic. To me it has a lot of longing, for both the past and for personal connections, and I think that’s why some people would say it’s melancholy. But I’m not a particularly sad person; I think there is a lot of optimism on the record too.” Crafting the kind of hazily gorgeous dream-pop that, we would agree, ploughs the sepia-tinged fields of nostalgic romance to swoonsome degrees, Wild Nothing – aka Virginia born Jack Tatum – is in possession of a stunning debut (‘Gemini’) that lulls you into contented security before oh-so-sweetly breaking your heart. “I just hope that it’s somewhat relatable; I want it to be sort of anytime music.” states Tatum. Anytime? We’re going with all the time.

‘Gemini’ is out now on Captured Tracks.
