LIVE REVIEW: WILD BEASTS
Wild Beasts
Sheffield, Students’ Union,
Saturday 8th March
There’s something theatrical about Leeds’ Wild Beasts. Amongst their disco beats and luxurious melodies, their music is tainted with haunting vocals that suddenly transform the groups’ performance. The high rising falsetto is so vibrant that it makes the music resonate throughout the room. Without it, Wild Beasts are all performance; cheap pop and flamboyant braces, but with it, they can be anything. From quiet piano accompaniment to loud brash rhythms, their set leaves you pleading for a response to the music: instead they finish with a brush of applause and a feeling of unknown potential.
