Kasabian-Jul-06

Cream Of The Crop

14 Apr 2008

Creamfields? Rock music? Has the world gone mad? Well, not quite. This year is the legendary dance festival’s 10th anniversary, and to celebrate, they’re throwing in their most diverse line-up to date. For the first time, this year’s festival will feature rock bands, host camping and be stretched over two days. Headliners Kasabian, Ian Brown, Soulwax and The Gossip will perform alongside dance heavyweights Fatboy Slim, Paul Van Dyk, Erick Morillo and Paul Oakenfold.

Frontman Tom Meighan told us: “The line-up is fabulous and we’re the first rock‘n’roll band to headline it, so it’s great to be groundbreaking. Our music has got really strong elements of power and groove which makes us perfect for this. I mean, we’re always up for any festival anywhere, but we did V and Glasto last year and I just think it would just be a bit ridiculous us turning up and playing again. Creamfields is great because it’s the only one we’re doing this year. We’ve done really well to get there. I think they’ve been after us for a while, so it’s really good to be able to play there.”

Tom also revealed that fans can expect to hear some new Kasabian material at Creamfields: “We’re gonna play 4 or 5 songs off the new record. We’re gonna bang them out, we’re really looking forward to coming back. It’s been 4 months now since we played live but it feels like a lifetime.”

Creamfields 08 will be spread over 10 arenas and will also feature on-site camping for the first time, while 13 other events are also planned for around the world including
Argentina,
Spain,
Russia,
