Doherty Released From Prison
Pete Doherty has been released from prison after serving just four weeks of his 14 week sentence.
The Babyshambles frontman was imprisoned last month for using illegal drugs and breaking his probation order. Leaving the Wormwood Scrubs prison this morning (May 6th) the singer spoke to the media scrum that awaited his release. Showing a medical certificate stating that he was clean of drugs, he explained his battle with drugs during his sentence, “Well, I knew it was going to be a bit rough to start with, repeated with the overcrowding and the medical facilities although they do their best – they are good, they can’t really cater for the average junkie.” After describing his worst points in prison being “Gangsters and Radio 4“, he spoke of his current state admitting, “I feel great – I’ve walked out and I don’t feel like I want to score,” he added. “I feel like I want to go for a nice walk in the park instead.”
During his 29 days in prison, Doherty was forced to cancel a show at the Royal Albert Hall last month but this solo show will be rescheduled.
