White Lies React To Number One

26 Jan 2009

White Lies have spoken to The-Fly.co.uk about their debut, ‘To Lose My Life’, entering the charts at Number One yesterday (25th January). The band, who are on the cover of this month’s mag, were in Russia shooting the video for their next single when they found out.

Drummer Jack Brown told us:
“It’s an amazing feeling to have our debut record do so well in the first week, and it definitely hasn’t hit home yet, probably because we haven’t been home yet. We’ve been in Northern Russia all weekend shooting a video for our next single in this tiny town where it feels the furthest from being a number one artist as you can possibly imagine. We celebrated with lots of vodka whilst filming, although this was also to keep us warm in the -11 temperatures. We’re delighted to have gotten off to such a good start with the album, and I think we’re in a really exciting position in regards to festivals and touring now, so really we couldn’t be happier. Thanks to everyone who has bought a copy!”

The trio, who embark on the NME Awards Tour 2009 next week alongside Glasvegas, Florence & The Machine and Friendly Fires, have also announced dates of a headline tour in May. They will play:

May:
3 Leeds Cockpit
4 Glasgow QMU
5 Manchester Academy 2
7 London Heaven
8 London Heaven

Support on all shows will come from NY bliss-poppers School Of Seven Bells. Tickets for all shows go on sale at 9am Wednesday 28th January. Tickets are priced at £12 (except in London where they are £12.50)  and are available from the venues or via www.lunatickets.co.uk (Leeds), www.gigsinscotland.com (Glasgow), www.gigsandtours.com (Manchester) & www.livenation.co.uk (London).
