
Duffy And Kings Of Leon Win Big At Brits
Duffy and Kings Of Leon were the big winners at last night’s (February 18th) Brit Awards at Earl’s Court.
The Welsh singer picked up three awards for her debut ‘Rockferry’, whilst Kings Of Leon walked away with Best International Group and Best International Album for ‘Only By The Night’.
Elbow were crowned Best British Group, beating the likes of Coldplay who surprisingly walked away empty handed despite being nominated for three awards. Katy Perry beat off competition from Beyonce, Gabriella Cilmi, Pink and Santigold to collect Best International Female Solo Artist, whereas the International Male Solo Artist of the year award was given to Kanye West.
Girls Aloud won their first Brit Award in their seven year career, scooping up Best British Single for ‘The Promise’. Paul Weller was awarded Best British Male Solo Artist and the Best British Live Act honour went to Iron Maiden.
Performances on the night came from U2, Coldplay, Duffy, Girls Aloud, Kings Of Leon and Take That, Pet Shop Boys and a collaboration between Estelle and The Ting Tings.
Winners of the Outstanding Contribution To Music award, Pet Shop Boys, ended the show with a performance with Lady GaGa and Killers frontman Brandon Flowers.
