Gomez To Play Red Stripe Music Award

09 Apr 2009

Now in it’s third year, the Red Stripe Music Award will have rhythm and blues masters Gomez playing alongside four emerging artists at this year’s final.

Taking place at Kentish Town Forum on May 5th, the band, who have recently released their new album ‘A New Tide’ will be a shining beacon to all bands competing this year. Red Stripe man Jonny Kirkham comments, “the Red Stripe Music Award is a celebration of every thriving live music scene across the country.”

Gomez have stood apart from the beginning,” Jonny continues, “eclectic, ambitious  and forward thinking. 10 years on from winning the Mercury Prize for Bring It On and they still deliver the goods.”

With slots at three of the summer’s major festivals, including the Great Escape guaranteed for the winner, the award looks to give top talent a leg up, and Gomez’s inclusion will bring some advice to the winner’s doorstep.

The final bill will be announced on Monday April 20th but here’s who’s made it so far:
