DOHERTY SOLO ALBUM

27 Nov 2007

Pasty blobby mess Peter Doherty has started work on his debut solo album.

Doherty bumlickers NME.COM have been talking to producer Jake Foir (fwaa? fwoar?), who claims to have recorded three “more universal sounding” tracks with the former Libertines man.

According to Foir, the three songs will make up part of a twelve track solo album, planned for release next summer, provided Pete’s record label let him put it out, as Parlophone are thought to be unhappy that he is working on new material outside of their control.

“I just spent a weekend with him – just me, him and the cats,” Foir tells NME.COM. “He’s out there in a 28-room mansion – it’s very ’60s-style and cool, I keep expecting Marianne Faithfull to come walking through one of the doors!”

Demanding her cats back immediately, perhaps?

Foir also suggested that there will be a large cast of musicians working on the album. One song called ‘Cuckoo’ reportedly features members of Babyshambles, while Londoners The Thirst and rapper Klashnekoff are also expected to contribute.
