
Mercury Prize Nominees Revealed
Florence And The Machine, Friendly Fires, La Roux and Bat For Lashes have been nominated for this year’s Barclaycard Mercury Prize Albums of the Year.
As well as the aforementioned acts, Kasabian, Glasvegas, Led Bib, Lisa Hannigan, Speech Debelle, Sweet Billy Pilgrim, The Horrors and The Invisible have been selected as the 12 Albums of the Year shortlisted for the 2009 Barclaycard Mercury Prize, announced today (July 21st).
Bookies William Hill have placed Kasabian as joint favourites to win this year’s award at 5-1 alongside Florence And The Machine.

Friendly Fires – ‘Friendly Fires’
Glasvegas – ‘Glasvegas’
Kasabian – ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’

Lisa Hannigan - ‘Sea Sew’
Speech Debelle – ‘Speech Therapy’
Sweet Billy Pilgrim – ‘Twice Born Men’
The Horrors – ‘Primary Colours’
The Invisible – ‘The Invisible’
The winner of this year’s Barclaycard Mercury Prize will be announced live on BBC Two on September 8th as part of the BBC’s coverage of the Awards Show.
