Gorillaz Replace U2 At Glastonbury
Gorillaz will headline the Friday night at this year’s Glastonbury.
The band will perform in place of U2, who yesterday pulled out of the festival owing to frontman Bono’s bad back. According to the announcement on the Glastonbury website, Gorillaz “called offering their services once the news about U2 had broken.”
Says festival founder Michael Eavis, “This is going to be Gorillaz‘ only UK festival appearance, and it’ll be a massive audio visual spectacle which will really ignite the Pyramid on the Friday night, with Muse, then Stevie Wonder to follow.”
The announcement means that Damon Albarn will headline Glastonbury for the second year in succession, having performed in 2009 with Blur.
