Amy Winehouse To Form New Band
Amy Winehouse is in talks with The Roots drummer Ahmir ‘?uestlove‘ Thompson over forming a new band.
The Roots were performing at the Toronto Jazz Festival this weekend, where the drummer spilled the news on his new project.
However, owing to Visa problems, Winehouse is not currently allowed into the US; delaying the recording process and causing problems for the new band.
“The closest she can come to the States is Jamaica,” ?uestlove explained to The Sun.
“I’m off to France soon so I’ll see if she’s up for discussing it over dinner. We’re Skype-ing the shit out of each other.”
The duo have also teamed up with producer/guitarist Raphael Saadiq. Friends of the soul-singer believe that the new band may be a much-needed turning-point, as she appears to be ditching the rock and roll lifestyle; settling with her new boyfriend, film director Reg Traviss.
Winehouse has also begun work on a new solo album, which is expected later this year.
