Mani Denies Stone Roses Reunion

08 Apr 2011

Rumours that The Stone Roses were about to reform, have been emphatically denied by the band’s bassist Gary “Mani” Mounfield.

The Sun reported that the band’s estranged singer and drummer – Ian Brown and John Squire – had met, fuelling rumours of a possible reunion.

This speculation has been flatly denied by former The Stone Roses bassist Mounfield, who said that Brown and Squire did meet, but for the funeral of his mother and not for any other purpose. Speaking to the NME, Mounfield said:

“Two old friends meeting up after 15 years to pay their respects to my mother does not constitute the reformation of the The Stone Roses . Please fuck off and leave it alone. It isn’t true and isn’t happening.”
