Just as we wipe the dribble from our nmouth post-Everything Everything and Dutch Uncles, a new battalion of twisted pop Mancunians arrive. Driver Drive Faster’s debut album is subtly magnificent, revelling in weedy lovelorn fables ‘They May Talk’, raising their red plastic party cup to Avi Buffalo and Ween in ‘It’s All Over It’s Everywhere’ and ‘Green Dents’, and, at times, sounding a little like Supergrass’ ‘Road To Rouen’ – 70s riffs doused in celestial peculiarity. ‘Open House’ is like a scrapbook of our favourite indie bands; let’s hope we can add them to the list one day.
