Hats off to Swimming – when life gives them lemons they unequivocally make lemonade. Despite the fact that lead single ‘Sun In The Island’ was penned after frontman John Sampson’s wife was shot through a taxi window, Swimming’s resolve refuses to be quashed. Amid anthemic choruses and jerky guitar pop, joy sparkles in the calypso imbued steel drums on ‘Neutron Wireless Chrystal’ and the spacey momentum-build and glitter-crusted throb of ‘Team Jetstream’. Whilst it might not have been conceived in the most positive circumstances, Swimming’s second album is an undeniably spirited affair.
