‘Wild Young Hearts’
(Mercury)

London three-piece Noisettes return with ‘Wild Young Hearts’, essentially an upbeat, radio-friendly pop record. It’s a far cry from the early scruffy indie sound of their debut ‘What’s the Time Mr. Wolf?’, and it’s difficult to know whether the band are trying to impress their fans and peers, or keep their major record label happy. Either way, the album has stand-out tracks aplenty. ‘Never Forget You’ sees vocalist Shingai Shoniwa as a true pop diva, not only striding sassily past the likes of Winehouse and Duffy et al, but leapfrogging them in the charts, too, with the nestled-at-number two advert-friendly single ‘Don’t Upset The Rhythm’. ‘Wild Young Hearts’ is a giant, catchy and danceable pop reinvention. We just never saw it coming…
