‘Post Nothing’
(Polyvinyl)
Post nothing indeed – visceral, infectious and rampant, Japandroids are everything you’ll need in 2009, 2010, 2011 and beyond. Creating a racket as if tearing towards the apocalypse on a scratched freight train, it’s hard to believe the noise comes from just two people. The duo from Vancouver kick off with ‘The Boys Are Leaving Town’, slamming into drum/guitar garage-rock with more than a passing nod to McLusky and No Age, whilst ‘Young Hearts Spark Fire’’s is powered by scuzzed-up Strokes-esque drums and ‘Rockers East Vancouver’ is a hedonistic juggernaut before it unsuspectingly pulls the brakes and brings the pace down to Lift To Experience levels. The only blip on a spectacular debut is repetitive filler ‘I Quit Girls’, but even that doesn’t dent a record you’ll be listening to for as long as you have ears.
