Don’t let the whimsical title fool you; the third album from Archie Bronson Outfit is serious stuff. As the metallic crunch of storming first track ‘Magnetic Warrior’ oozes in, it’s clear that the trio have got louder and prouder in their chosen course and transformed themselves into the spacey sonic shape shifters they always had the potential to become. ‘Coconut’ serves up a hefty dose of funkified prog with an occasional dose of disco thrown into the mix. While the album is uneven in places (there’s little charm about the indispersable fuzz of ‘Wild Strawberries’, or ‘Hunt You Down’’s downbeat lack of direction, for example) and certainly not instantly negotiable, there’s plenty here to reward the careful listener.
