Slaughtering rock’s holy cows, writing letters from God to man, lamenting on the aftermath of suicide, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip’s debut may have flirted with a certain sense of pretension but ended up being so smart, fresh and thought-provoking that it didn’t matter. Follow-up ‘The Logic Of Chance’ doesn’t share the same fate. Dealing with issues such as knife crime, domestic violence, safe sex and a true story of an attempted rape, its heart, and brain, may be in the right place but there’s very little here as instant, stand-out or hooky enough to appeal beyond devotee’s of Pip’s intellect. Which is not to say ‘The Logic Of Chance’ is bad, of course, just that we expected more.
