Awesome winter-warming albums from French pairs are nothing new, but we don’t remember, say, ‘Homework’ or ‘Moon Safari’ having this illustrious a guest list. While the likes of Esser, Primary 1 and CocknBullKid bring considerable charm – respectively, Wastin’ Time’ crosses Ladyhawke’s sheen with early Orbital wooze, ‘People Movin’’ is a slice of breakbeat soul, while ‘Cliché’ is just pure sass – Briere and LeBeau astound equally unassisted, as ‘Investigator’ demonstrates. The Shoes may have come for your feet, but they’ll leave with your heart while they’re at it.
