If The Fly were to select this year’s perfect pick-me-up soundtrack, it would be ‘Stay Kids’. Packed with psychpop belters, the Miami Beach twosome’s debut whisks listeners into a dream-like state; from the soaring melodies of ‘Big Problem’ and ‘This Is My Timing’ to ‘It’s Around You’’s brass-tinged Yeasayer-isms, ‘My Father Worked With Planes’’ tinkling electronics and the spooky yet sweet ‘Holes’. Beautifully arranged and inventively produced, these tracks are the missing link between MGMT and The Beach Boys. Utterly gorgeous.
