Liverpool Sound City 2009: The Jessie Rose Experience

Delivering exceptionally sublime examples of alternative-pop, The Jessie Rose Trip appear far bigger than the meagre crowd watching them would suggest.
Reminiscent of Prince And The Revolution, their sound is also strikingly similar to the infectious pop-dub of Santogold with Jessie Rose providing divinely powerful vocals that evokes the soul of jazz chanteuses Dina Washington and Billie Holiday.
New Single ‘Forever And A Day’ is evocative of ‘Denis’-era Blondie, showcasing some incredibly catchy vocal hooks and the bands potential for the makings of big time pop-stardom, whilst ‘It’s Just Soul’ sounds like an early No Doubt fronted by Amy Winehouse.
With a bigger focus on songwriting, and greater emphasis provided to the occasionally overpowered lead vocals (the performance peaks when it’s at it’s most minimal and vocals dazzle out clear), The Jessie Rose Trip could very easily and rightfully become as successful as their talents deserve.
