May The Force Be With You

Barfly and Metro, the UK’s only urban national newspaper have launched ‘On-line and On- tour 2008’, a joint competition to find the musical stars of the future.

During the past month, many hopeful musicians have been uploading their best tunes onto www.MEmusic.co.uk (Metro’s online music and social networking site) in the hope of securing a place in a live ‘play-off’ final, with the chance to play with Britpop legends Dodgy on their UK tour.

From 1st September, Metro will be announcing the 10 finalists, and then it’s up to the public to cast their vote online to who they reckon should win. On the 12th September the 10 finalists will be rattled down to 5, and these will take part in a live ‘play-off’ final at Camden Barfly on September 16th. The lucky winners will hit the road with Dodgy on their 7 date UK Barfly tour stretching from Aberdeen to London. Dodgy’s vocalist Nigel Clark had this to say: “All bands have to start somewhere and this seems like a great opportunity for them to be seen by lots of music lovers and possibly music industry people too”.
