‘Live At Dead Lake

(Moshi Moshi)

14 bloody tracks? Don’t Hot Club De Paris realise how busy we all are? Well, err, yeah they obviously do – ‘Live At Dead Lake’ is actually only 32.5 minutes long and each song has an average length of 2.32 minutes (yes, The Fly remembers our GCSE maths) which captures our increasingly dwindling attention spans for just long enough to remind us that HCDP are a sound to behold with their twirling, swirling, spiralling waves of riffage and pained, strained, Scouse babble. ‘Let Go Of Everything’ is a rousing song of defeatism, ‘The Friendship Song’ contains strumming so rapid it would put ‘Duelling Banjos’ to shame and current single ‘Hey Housebrick’ is as catchy as Velcro. Hot Club are most certainly back, more refined, and as fun as ever.
