Album Review: The Automatic

The Automatic
‘Tear The Signs Down’
(Armoured Records)

If fans of Yourcodenameis:milo have found it hard to stomach frontman Paul Mullen’s integration into The Automatic, they can take heart from his increasing influence on them. ‘Tear The Signs Down’’ title suggests as much about the whole group’s wish to progress as the ensuing music. Ok, so the ‘Monster’ stars aren’t mucking about with wacky time signatures just yet, but there is a new dexterity on songs like ‘Insides’ and ‘Run And Hide’- the former, in particular, reminiscent of second LP YCNI:M. With Mullen also dominating vocal proceedings, ‘Tear The Signs Down’ is a complete transformation of the four-piece’s style, and whilst the tepid ‘High Time’ suggests they’re still not there yet, The Automatic are far from the indie-punk joke they were becoming.

No matter they changed their style and so they are no longer funny Automatic as before, they have great Robin's vocals and nice music... But i really miss their old songs...
